You Get the Point
The nitty gritty and picky points of perseverance.

This week, I recognized something surprising about myself.
I value perseverance. Perseverance takes GRIT. Maybe you value it too?
It often requires leaning into the sharper points in life even when you don’t want to, when you don’t feel like it, or if you want to avoid it altogether.🏹
I come by it honestly.
I have witnessed it time and again with my parents. Their determination to move to Canada from Ireland in search of adventure and hope. Their educational and career pursuits to create a better life. Witnessing my mum battle cancer, overcome it, and continue to live a vibrant and rich life. That’s GRIT.
I see it in my spouse who is an entrepreneur running his own successful business in good economies and challenging times. Who holds me accountable for my truths even when I don’t want to hear it and he likely doesn’t want to point it out. A man who loves his family fiercely! That’s GRIT.
I see it in my pets in their efforts to get treats and attention. When my sweet cat Scooter was seriously ill and made a full but difficult recover. In their furry selves constantly attempting to secure the best chair in the house for a nap. That’s GRIT.
I see it in my friends and colleagues who are trying to raise their kids in this crazy, turbulent world. Who are optimistic about the future. Who are caring for family members, putting food on the table, and building their own dreams. That’s GRIT.
My perseverance is a combination of hope and determination. It’s a blessing and a curse. It’s sometimes not knowing when to back down. It’s sometimes being rewarded by being pleasantly persistent.
It’s feeling the sticky points deeply and choosing to continue to move through it knowing there’s a sunny, funny, more inspiring other side if I do the work and make the changes.
So wonderful humans, what would Wilomena say on this topic 🐞…
She knows that wisdom suggests she lean in when life gets jagged, when the pointy bits cause discomfort, when the sharpness of life is felt deep. So wonderful humans, there is surely something to be gained with this perseverance, this thing called GRIT, but damn the picky points are a pain in the butt!
So lean in wonderhumans! Trust that the arrow comes out the other side with the benefits of more learning, more love, and more self confidence to tackle the next arrow that comes your way. You get the point 😉.
A huge thanks and lots of love to those who have shown their support through support of a subscription. Wilomena and I are grateful that you want to make it a regular part of your week. Thanks Fwends ❤️
